The Early Years – 1908

One hundred years ago the nation and the City of New York underwent a great transformation probably not equaled since then in terms of the depth and breath of the changes. Aeroplanes were new. Skyscrapers were built in the lanes. The Great White fleet of President Theodore Roosevelt passed through Long Island Sound and brokered a peace accord with the Japanese. It was a great year. Jim Rasenberger, a New York Times contributor has focused on the pivotal year for the 1st Aero Company in his new book, America, 1908. It gives you a front row seat to the city and the people who gave birth to the First Aero Company.
